Android Applications
Google's new Mobile Platform Android includes a software pile for mobile devices - with an operating system, middleware and key applications.
Android was designed to create mobile applications that take full advantage of each mobile has to offer. It was built to be truly open. For example, an application can call one of the basic functions of the phone, calls, send text messages or using the device, enabling developers to create broader and more consistent experiences for users. Android is built on the Linux kernel. In addition, it uses a custom virtual machine that is designed to optimize memory and hardware resources in a mobile environment. Android is open source, can be freely extended to integrate new technologies as they appear. The platform will carry on to expand as the developer community works together to create mobile applications.
Android does not differentiate between the phone’s basic applications and third-party applications. They can all be constructed to equal access to the capabilities of a phone available to users with a wide range of applications and services. With devices built on the Android platform, users can fully customize the phone to their interests. They can change the phone’s home screen of the original style of the mark, or any of the applications. They can even apprize their phones to use their favorite photo screening application to handle the display of all photos.
Android exposes fewer barriers to the creation of new innovative applications. For example, a developer can combine information on the web with data on a mobile phone like, the user contacts, calendar, or geographic location - to provide a more significant user experience. With Android, a developer can create an application that allows users to see the location of their friends and be alerted when they are close to give them a chance to connect.
Android offers extensive range of useful libraries and tools that can be used to make ample applications. For example, Android enables developers to achieve the location of the device and enables devices to communicate among themselves to rich peer-to-peer social applications. In addition, Android includes a full set of tools that were built from the ground to the platform together with developers to provide high productivity and deep understanding of their applications.

um, dude, theres an android market. its where i download all my shit. go slide up the menu, then look for an application that says "market" with the picture of an android on the front of a white bag. all the applications are free. being a g1 user you should know that. once you're in android market, to get the barcode thing, download shop savvy. to get games go to the games section. theres a bunch of fun addicting ones. the video, there is no video player at the moment for the g1. it doesnt support flash player yet but adobe is working on it. theres a video of it on youtube. g1 does support youtube videos and that should occupy you. and themes, why do you need a theme, the g1 is already fuckin cool. but they do have an application where you can get more backgrounds then the ones given to you on the phone. or why not be creative and use the 3.2 megapixel camera and take a cool picture and make it your background. if you want to edit the picture to look cooler, get the picsay application. and so you know, you have three home screens, you can customize the way they look. add picture frames if you like. dude its an awesome phone, have fun with it, mess around. if you dont like an application uninstall it. if an app ruins your phone, go to settings>sd card & phone storage>factory data reset. you're not going to loose any phone numbers, its just going to delete every app. useful tip, dont get anything with low ratings. and make sure you need the app. why use something and take up space you're not gonna use. thats how i was when i first got it. i just waned a bunch of stuff so my phone is cooler. i hope this helps man.

Consider talking to your friends.
No resource better than people you trust. Besides, talking to someone who'd already been in the same incertitude once might be the most reasonable step to take. They will guide you to some extent. Not only friends, but professionals, experts, etc.
I looked on Google and found a website that deals with software training and programming that might be interesting to you. I placed an URL in the resource box, I hope you make a good use of it.
Good luck on your research!

Start at android web site. You'll find everything you need to know there (or on links from there). Download the SDK, pay the $25 one-time fee (if you want to distribute via the Market), and have at it. It helps if you are good with Java programming.
